Meon Valley Trail Walk
This walk from 'Visit Hamphire' follows an old disused railway line. You can find a map and route guide on their website. The full walk is a long one so we would suggest heading out as far a your little ones can manage and turning back (it is not a circular route).
The Meon Valley Trail provides car free access into the South Downs, linking rural communities and showcasing the beautiful countryside of the Meon Valley. Discover a trail that leads you through English history. Once a railway line running from Fareham to Alton transporting local livestock and agricultural produce, the trail now spans 11 miles through picturesque countryside, from West Meon in the north to Wickham in the south.
It is the perfect introduction into the South Downs National Park, linking to well established long distance trails including the Wayfarers’ Walk and the South Downs Way National Trail.
Hampshire Countryside Services encourage everyone using the trail to show respect to other users and share the space considerately.
Distance: 11 miles (17.7km). 2 hours cycling / 6 hours walking (non-circular).
Route: Disused railway. No stiles. Suitable for cyclists, walkers and horse riders (carriages are only permitted north of West Walk). Mostly flat and wide path, suitable for pushchairs and mobility scooters.
Car Parking: Start from West Meon all users may start from the car park off Station Rd. Walkers can also use the footpath link from the High Street.
