Join in the celebration at home

Beltain (or Beltane) is one of the four Celtic Fire Festivals, most commonly held on 1 May. It is a celebration of the fertility of the earth and splendour of nature. Here are some ideas on how you could celebrate from home;
• Make a head dress or crown - collect natural materials or use items around the home to make a beautiful crown to wear at Beltain! (please be considerate and try not to pick or cut flowers/greenery unnecessarily)
• If you have facepaints you could recreate the Butser Beltain blue patterns at home or make some artwork or crafts inspired by the beautiful blue swirls or the beauty of nature!
• Make a playlist of your favourite music and have a dance party at home!
• If you can, get outside and connect with the nature bursting into life around us. If you are stuck at home, studies have shown that even looking at pictures of nature or nature documentaries have a great impact on mood and are a great way to still feel the connection with nature.
• Beltain is a fire festival, so if it is safe to do so, light a candle and use it as a focus for meditation. If you do decide to light anything more than a candle in your garden, please be considerate of neighbours with open windows and washing. Also, please observe any restrictions which may be in place from your local council.
• Phone a friend, check in on your neighbours or try to perform other small acts of kindness.
